Contravoz in Colombia

According to Eduardo Mendoza "El poder se puede obtener con la violencia y la crueldad, pero sòlo se conserva con la intriga" - ("Power can be obtained through violence and cruelty, but only retained by intrigue").

Good words as I am landing in Cali - Colombia. Not completely clear why I am here, but curious to see that at the arrival to the airport I was placed in a car followed by militars with big guns. I ask for the basis of such privilege: "..do not worry...it is just protocol."

Deux pensées sur la lucidité

Dans l’avion à Los Angeles j’ai trouvé – abandonné- un livre de M. Barbery (L’élégance du hérisson). Comme par chance, là dedans j’ai lu les phrases suivantes :

La fausse lucidité de la maturité
« Apparemment, de temps en temps, les adultes prennent le temps de s’asseoir et de contempler le désastre qu’est leur vie. Alors ils se lamentent sans comprendre et, comme des mouches qui se cognent toujours à la même vitre, ils s’agitent, ils souffrent, ils dépérissent, ils dépriment et ils s’interrogent sur l’engrenage qui les a conduits là où ils ne voulaient pas aller. »

Le succès amer
« Si l’existence est absurde, y réussir brillamment n’a plus de valeur qu’y échouer….la lucidité rend le succès amer alors que la médiocrité espère toujours quelque chose »
