Pitcairn Islands

Reading "Collapse" of Jared Diamond makes my thoughts drift to the exceptional ways of living in Pitcairn: small steep island, 52 people descendents of the Bounty mutineers and their polynesian wifes. Cannot avoid looking into Google earth, and finding the actual website of the Island (http://www.lareau.org/pitc.html). Touching.

How to be idle

Today, coming from Geneva, from Mummenschanz, I find an old clip from The Economist, October 16th 2004. This in an old jacket of mine. It is the review of a book about "Idling" (vagancia, paresse).
The author wants you to rediscover life at a slower pace: sleeping in, staring at the stars, and allowing yourself the pleasures of a three-hour lunch.
...the times when men had time to dream and think about the big subjects in life.

Two years later (Lausanne Demi-Marathon), I do all those things....but just after the run.

Noche de Frio - En Betten/Aletsch

Primera noche de frio, -1.5°C, y leo las siguientes frases de Antonio Muñoz Molina:
"..el frio avanza, va rozando la espalda, el cogote, se va infiltrando bajo los dobleces de la ropa, sube desde el suelo hasta las plantas de los pies....
...y cuando te cobijes debajo de las mantas y te cubras bien con el embozo y pienses que te has librado de el, el frio te habra seguido y se habra inoculado en ese refugio....
